Development Team Report
Report #2— February 7, 2008

Hello Devo Team,

Mother Nature is blessing us with lots of snow for once!  Bogus has reported 42 inches of the white stuff since Saturday January 26th.  It is great to see so much snow on the mountain and in the valley.
The devo team traveled to Snow Basin, UT the past weekend and experienced the Utah snow as well.  Friday the boys and girls were both able to ski the Super G training run and skied well for the conditions that included of lots of snow, high winds and flat light.  They were able to get a great feel for the course, for their race run the following day.
Saturday’s weather was amazing, the sun was shining and the athletes, coaches, and parents were all having a great time.  The girls skied well, then the boys raced and skied well considering the 95 women competitors who had skied the course prior to them. Sam Schwarz a varsity athlete came down for some training and tied for the win in the boy’s race.   He then had to arm wrestle for the medal and unfortunately lost.
Race number two was underway for the girls, and the boys went out and skied some of the famous Snow Basin chutes with Mark.  He made sure they scared themselves and accomplished his goal.    While the boys were out skiing the mountain, the girls were dominating.  Camille Troyer walked away winning the race in her age group and Kori Swanson followed in second.  The rest of the girls improved from their morning run and were all pleased with their finishes.
Sunday the weather came in to play and the race was cancelled.  This was quite a disappointment for the competitors because they were going to race in the first Kombi for the intermountain division.  But that is the way ski racing goes.
All in all the weekend was a success.  The team is home for the weekend training G.S. for their next race in Kelly Canyon.
