Report #4— March
7, 2005
Carma Burnett Carew
Say goodbye to your beloved bus.
That's right,
night skiing will be over this Saturday so Wednesday is the last night for the
bus. Also, Bogus has reduced night skiing to two chairlifts: Deerpoint and
Coach.
This might prove to be a little problematic this Wednesday so here's the scoop.
The bus will go all the way up to the Training Center and the Pioneer Lodge where
the kids can get their stuff. I'll help those who need it. I will have the kids
get back on the bus with all of their stuff and go down to the main parking lot.
We will train and then the kids will get on the bus and come down with all of
their stuff. The problem is getting back up to the
Pioneer Lodge and the Training Center without having the Morning Star lift
running.
This weekend:
Many kids will be traveling this weekend to Snowbird.
For those at home you will be able to train with Ashley and the Varsity
Team on Saturday and Sunday and go to the BBSRA picnic Saturday afternoon.
Ashley is planning on skiing slalom in the mornings. Afternoons will
most likely be free-skiing or heading home early.
Spring Training:
Bogus Basin is planning on staying open until the
20th of March (hope, hope, hope). If they do, we will be in pretty
good shape. I would like to know if there is anyone interested
in a Spring Break Camp. I have been talking with Uros and Ashley
about doing a couple of days in Tamarack. Most likely Monday, Tuesday,
and/or Wednesday of Spring Break. I need to know if anyone is interested
and if there might be any parents available to help car pool kids
up to Tamarack. Let me hear your feedback and I will let you know
the plan.
Summer Camps:
We have had a lot of questions regarding summer
camps. With the terrible snow year, I am not really looking at Mt.
Hood to put together a camp. Right now Uros and I have been talking about
doing a camp in June at Mammoth and possibly a camp in August. For Devo
aged kids I think it is important to try and move back their summer skiing
and not necessarily do it in June. Our options this year will be limited
though. The August camp is up in the air because of location. Uros is checking
into some European options. We will put something together if we can do
it for a reasonable cost. So...in a nut shell...we're working on it!
And lastly:
I would like to express our thanks from the staff for
a great group of kids. This year has been especially challenging
and the kids have done a terrific job keeping a great attitude.
We're looking forward to a great end of the season,
Carma
