It was a great weekend for the J4’s and J3’s of the Devo
team. The team was in Jackson Hole for the North Series Super G’s.
This was a new experience for many of the athletes. The Super G is quite
a bit faster and longer than a G.S. They did great! On Friday, the boys
and the girls had their first training run, and then the girls had their
first race run. Kerri Zwang finished 7th, Alex Swanson
finished 9th, and Haley Willison finished with a 10th. On Saturday the
boys had their first race and Graham Black finished with a 4th followed
by RJ Klotz with a 5th. The girls second race Alex Swanson finished with
a 5th and Kerri Zwang finished in 8th. The boys second race was similar
to the first race. The top boys of were Graham Black finished 4th followed
by RJ Klotz finishing 5th. Sunday’s final race for the girls Alex
Swanson came in 2nd place. Sunday’s final race for the boys RJ
Klotz placed 2nd and Graham Black followed in 3rd.
We are proud to say that all the athletes skied great, and had a great
experience skiing Super G for the first time.
The training at home was also great. Brett and Mike did a great job and
the Devo group got to look at video and get timed training runs. The
kids are improving a ton and we are looking forward to some stellar results
at the Cranston Cup.
The team is now switching gears over to slalom. We will be training this
weekend to get ready for the Cranston Cup on January 28th & 29th.
We are looking for volunteers for the Cranston Cup. Please contact Dane
Black if you can help with these races. We will need as many people as
possible.
Everything regarding the Training Center is going well. We are still
trying to iron out the kinks. Sunday’s will be the Devo Team’s
day of the week to clean. Everyone needs to plan on spending 15-30 minutes
after Sunday’s practice to buff out the center. We are asking parents
to please stay out of the locker rooms. If you are working on your kid’s
locker please do it when all of the groups are out skiing. We are assuming
that all of the kids can get ready on their own and do not need assistance
from their parents. We are asking that the kids stay out of the coaches
room. If they need to talk to the coaches, they can knock on the door
and the coach will be happy to assist them. And finally, there has been
a lot of discussion on whether or not we should allow food in the Training
Center. My feeling is that we should allow the kids and coaches to eat
in the Training Center. We need everyone to clean up after themselves.
The kids need to eat in the locker room and the coaches need to eat in
the coaches room. We do not want to turn our meeting/video room into
a lunch room. So please don’t eat in there. And…as always
if kids want to eat in the lodge, they are more then welcome to do that.
Shannon is working on getting the rest of the doors on the lockers and
we are hoping that happens very soon. Also…we will move a couple
of tables into the locker rooms so the kids can eat their lunches.
That’s it for now. Thank you Ash for putting together the info
on how the Super-G’s went. Also…I apologize for being absent
last weekend. I had a family wedding in Florida.
