Hi all,
The Devo Team had a fantastic weekend! We saw some great improvements
with our skiers. I am very proud of everyone for stepping up this weekend
and really putting on their game face. We had some crashes which was
a bummer but the kids were really going for it and that's what
we’re after. Traditionally the Bogus Team plays catch-up with the
other teams because of our late snow. I can see that we’re starting
to make the turn and I am anticipating GREAT results in Kelly Canyon.
I want to thank Dane Black for being the Race Chairman for the Cranston
Cup. He was able to gather a tremendous group of volunteers. I really
think this group of parents really out-did yourselves. You guys made
the coaches jobs much easier. Tear-down was a snap and I think we must
have broken a record by having everything put away by 4:15. Thanks so
much for making the Cranston cup a huge success. I also want to thank
Mark Wedeking, Ashley, Brett, Mike and Ray for all of their hard work
this weekend!
Moving on...we’re switching gears to G.S. We have the Kelly Canyon
race in 2 weeks. We will train G.S. on the Ridge on Wednesday night.
We are going to try and get backside training over the weekend. Kelly
Canyon has a great G.S. hill that has steeps and flats and we will do
our best to get the kids prepared for this. If you haven’t made
your hotel reservations we are staying at the Ameritel Inn Spectrum.
The phone # is 208-552-2500. We have a block of rooms under the Bogus
Basin Ski Team and the rate is $69.00 per night. We will have a short
team meeting in the hotel lobby on Feb. 10th at 8:00. We will have the
schedule for the weekend and bibs for Saturday. Coaches traveling to
this race are myself, Brett and Mike. Please let me know if you are not
planning on attending this race. I will be entering our entire roster
for the race if I don’t hear from you.
I am also looking for parent volunteers to ride the bus. Thank you to
Mike Hill, Deb Marria, Danny Quintana and Amy Lodge for taking this duty
so far. Danny Quintana has volunteered for this Wednesday so I am looking
for parent’s on Feb. 8th, 15th, 22nd, Mar. 1st, 8th and the 15th.
Let me know if you might be able to do this. So far, the parent’s
who have ridden have come back in one piece and have said the trip wasn’t
entirely awful. Now that I am on the subject of the bus....we have a
new rule regarding the kids who are riding. If a kid is only riding up
to Bogus, their parent’s need to tell the parent on the bus that
they will not be riding down. The bus driver gets nervous about accidentally
leaving a kid up there and is waiting for kids who have already caught
a ride down with someone else. Unless you have notified the parent on
the bus that your kid will only be riding up, your child has to ride
the bus down. We don’t want kids catching a ride with someone without
prior authorization. Thanks a ton for helping us with this.
Again...thanks so much for all of your hard work this weekend. It was
very much appreciated! If you want to take a look at results from this
weekend go to: http://www.ussa-imd.org/alpine/races05/north.htm.
