Report #7 -- February 16, 2006

Great Weekend Everyone!!!
First and foremost, thanks for the cake and card for my 33rd b-day (wink-wink) and Garrett's 10th b-day. That was very thoughtful and very much appreciated. Another huge "thanks" goes out to McU Sports and Matt Cantrill for coming and helping us with tuning and waxing. If anyone would like to drop a thank you note to Matt his email is mattcantrill@rmci.net. I'm sure he would appreciate it!

The weekend overall was great. We had some outstanding results with R.J. Klotz and Graham Black who both got gold this weekend, with R.J. also capturing a sliver. Stockton Troyer brought home the silver both days and will be looking for Gold in Sun Valley. We also had some nice results from many of our athletes. The conditions were perfect and the course was challenging to say the least. It was a course like we don't see very often with a lot of blind turns but we handled it pretty darn well. Here's hoping Andrew Dixon has a speedy recovery after taking a little too much air at Kelly Canyon. Get healthy!

I know a lot of you have your eyes on Intermountain Champs. Well this is how it works...The qualifying races for IMD Champs are the Bogus races, Kelly races and Sun Valley races. There are 3 GSs and 3 Slaloms. Intermountain takes the best two slalom results and the best two GS results and combines then for a cumulative score. The quotas from the North and South are based on the population of kids from the North and South and within age groups and gender. The field size will be 150 plus 10%. I do the Intermountain selections for this event and will try to get a preliminary one done prior to next weekend so we can have an idea of what we need to do over in Sun Valley.
The next week an a half we will focus on Sl and GS. We will train slalom on the front side on Wed. and train slalom on the backside on Sat. We will switch gears Sunday and train GS on the backside on Sunday and GS on the front side on Wednesday before we leave for Sun Valley.

And finally, the track jackets. I would love to see the Devo Team in a logo track jacket that they can wear to school and show their pride in BBSRA. At the meeting on Friday night, I brought samples from McU's. We can purchase them and logo them for around $55.00. I would like to use two different logos to differentiate the kids who qualify for IMD Champs. But I think they are cool enough that the rest of the team would like them as well. Let me know if you are not into this idea. I got a few responses this weekend and most were favorable. Let me know ASAP because I need to get with B.J. At McU's ASAP. If everyone is in favor I will order them up on Wednesday. Timingis critical because IMD Champs are on Mar. 11-12.

One last thing...Molly Mannschreck has volunteered for the bus next Wed. but I don't have anyone this week. Anyone up for it????? Thanks a lot and Happy Valentine's Day,

Carma
