Freestyle Varsity Report #7
February 2, 2006

Hello all freestylers,

As per my email last night, I went to the hill today and Chad informed me that the event schedule has slightly changed to the following, sorry if this causes any inconvenience:

» Friday: dual moguls
» Saturday: dual moguls
» Sunday: aerials and big air (*)

*the difference between big air and aerials is as follows:
-aerials: inverts (flips which you must be qualified to perform) and uprights such spreads, daffys, twisters, 360's. This will be judged on take-off, performance of trick, landing and multiplied by the degree of difficulty.

-big air: these are new school tricks off the floaters. Ex: 360's with position, cross positioned jumps, etc. Get judged more on the ooooh and aaah factor, not as technical.

Throughout the week, I will learn more and more details which I will pass on to you. I am tentatively going to say that the competition day will begin at 9:00 am when the lifts open. If there are any changes to that, I will let you know.

If your athlete is not competing, please let me know if they are coming to
practice so I can prepare for coaching. Most of our coaches will be at the
events! Please Note: the little basher season ended last week.

Volunteers:
We are still in desparate need of volunteers. One of the big jobs at the moment is to feed our volunteers and judges. We will need 20 bagged lunched for Fri, Sat and Sun. If you are able to make any number of these on any day, please let me know. Thank you to Ted Armstrong, Cary Hattabaugh and Sam Sandmire who already offered to help.

Thanks and look for more updates throughout the week. Remember to register for a USSA licence and with Shannon for the competition before this weekend.
