Alpine Varsity Report
Report #2, January, 25 2005 - Uros Pavlovcic

Nakiska FIS
On January 7th we left Boise to race in Nakiska, Canada, the host of 1988 Olympic Games. Our team consisted of five top skiers of BBSRA, Kate Stoddard, Kristin Stover, Brianna Bambic, Emily Amsden, Mike McLoud accompanied by coach Uros Pavlovcic. We were competing in two GS and two Slalom races on which started 115 men and 95 women competitors. The races had representatives from many different countries such as Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, US and Canada.

We competed in extremely cold weather on very long Slalom and technical demanding GS courses.  Despite that, we managed to have some good results. To mention a few, Kate finished 12th the first Slalom and 16th the second and Brianna finished 19th at second slalom. With these results they were placed as the best US skiers. Our best GS result was Brianna's 16th place, on the same race Kate finished 20th. Although Mike, Kristin and Emily had start numbers at the end of the field, they were able to move forward and finish most of the races in the top fifty.

These same racers will stay in Boise only a few days, to take finals in school. They are leaving again this Monday, Jan the 17th, to Big Sky, Montana, where they are going to compete in Super Gs and Downhill. To find out hoe they did, check our website again in ten days.
